British Council International School Award
The School is very proud of it’s British Council International School Award as the school has worked with many different communities across the globe for some time now.
Our work in Nepal is always a success and this has never been more important following the devastating earthquakes in 2015.
The School continues to fund raise and visit many countries in an attempt to offer a global classroom of learning.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a challenging and exciting program aimed for young people world wide. The Award at AAESS gives participants the opportunity to participate in sports, learn new skills, give something back to the community and take part in an expedition. The pupils will learn about perseverance, commitment, teamwork and leadership – important life skills that will benefit them now and in the future.
There are three levels of the Award in which you can participate – Bronze, Silver and Gold, with each successive level demanding increased commitment:
BRONZE — for those over 14. The minimum period of participation to gain this Award is 6 months;
SILVER — for those over 15. The minimum period of participation to gain this Award is 12 months;
GOLD — for those over 16. The minimum period of participation to gain this Award is 18 months.
This year there has been increased interest in the program as over 60 participants have signed up. They will be taking in part in Desert Clean-ups, Sports Leaders Awards and Silver and Gold candidates will be traveling overseas to complete their final expeditions.
