Isla Takes Gold in Malaysia

On the 7th to the 14th August Isla competed in the Asia figure skating championship competing against skaters from all around Asia. The competition was held in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Isla competed in 7 events and was successful in all 7, picking up 7 medals. Isla won 4 Gold, 1 silver and 2 Bronze. We are incredibly proud of her and the enormous amount of work she did in order to compete at the level she did. Before Isla left for Malaysia she was skating every day. It paid off at the competition and she can’t want to compete again soon.

Principal Andrew Thomas said, “Isla is a star!  This gold rush continues for Isla and I am now looking forward to hearing about her next round off success.  Tokyo 2020 Isla?!”

About the author

The Al Ain English Speaking School is a privately owned ‘not for profit’ school. It was set up by seven local and international companies in 1978. The rationale was to provide an appropriate standard of education for the children of expatriate employers, to ensure that they would not be socially or academically disadvantaged when they returned to their home countries. We are located on the border between the United Arab Emirates and Oman in the scenic UNESCO world heritage site in the oasis city of Al Ain.
