Mahmud Asdemir in 4M enjoyed great success at the UAE UCMAS National Abacus and Mental Arithmetic and Listening Skills Competition on Friday the 12th of May. The competition featured children from a range of different ages and countries competing against each other.
Mahmud had to use on old school abacus, similar to the one pictured below, to work out the answers to Maths questions and at times was asked to work without the abacus!
After answering over 100 questions in eight minutes, with less than five seconds taken to answer each question, Mahmud was awarded a trophy for fourth runner up in this category. Mahmud said, “The maths was not hard. When I got the trophy I was very happy and proud.”
